Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) for Grade 1
 

INVENTORY

The Inventory Section is administered in BoY, MoY and EoY to 'SD' students. It consists of four Phonemic Awareness tasks, five Graphophonemic Knowledge tasks, a Word List for Story Placement, and a story.

3. Comprehension

Students follow a path through this Section according to their score. If a student's score is below standard for a Phonemic Awareness task, she will continue with the Graphophonemic Awareness tasks. A student who scores on or above standard on a Phonemic awareness task, will continue with those tasks.

Students who score below standards on a GA task are immediately send to the Word List for Story Placement. They do not complete the GA Inventory Section. Students who do score on or above standard on every one of the GA tasks, will then start the Word Placement List.

All students are placed in one of five Stories in the Comprehension Section according to their score on the Word List. If a student is unable to read the story assigned to her, go to the previous story. If a student who is placed in Story One, can not read more than three words in the first sentence, the teacher will take over and read the story. The student still has to answer the questions related to that story.
