Do I stay in the room? Can I watch the class?

Parents wishing to stay in the classroom should enroll in the Mommy and Me class. For all other classes, parents in the classroom can be a distraction for the students and are not allowed. They are however always welcome to observe class from the observation windows.

What should my child wear?

Students in Mommy and Me or any child trying their first class should can wear clothes they can move in, like play clothes or dance attire. Preballet/Tap students will need a pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Beg Ballet/Tap students will need a black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Boys in either level should wear black shorts, white shirt, black ballet or jazz shoes, and black oxford style tap shoes. Dance clothes can be purchased at Academy Sports and Outdoors, Target, and Payless Shoe Source. Dance Clothes are also available at local area dance shops such as Moving Easy and Dancers Closet.

Can my son take dance?

Absolutely! Young boys can benefit just as much from dance as girls, and in Miss Heather's classes she always has a few. In dance class they will improve coordination, strength, flexibilty, and musicality, and no, they don't have to wear tights.

My child is almost the minimum age, can they try the older class?

Students must be 3 at the start of the semester to enroll in the Preballet/tap class. Students must be 5 at the start of fall to enroll in the Beg Ballet/Tap class. Miss Heather realizes there are exceptional cases, and she will place your child in the class she feels is the most age appropriate for your child.

How many weeks do the classes run?

Summer classes run for 9 weeks. Fall classes begin in mid August and continue until the winter holiday, and students enrolled in fall are automatically reenrolled in the spring session. Spring classes begin in January end the last week of May. Spring students are not automatically reenrolled in Summer.
