Accessibility 1 - Beginning Web Accessibility

Examples of 5 sites that have major accessibility issues and why:

Hurley Mountain Inn - uses tables for layout, no header tags, title is image with no alt text. This makes it difficult for blind people to 'read' using screen readers.
Freespire web site - uses blue color to distinguish links instead of underlining. Some color blink people will not know these are links.

Flash 3 - Data Connectivity

Assignments:

Loading text from a file into a dynamic Flash text field. This loads text from a text file.
Using flashvars for input parameters to a Flash application. The weather variable is externally set to "raining".
Using arrays for a pull-down navigation menu. This navigates to different Flash web sites.
Loading and parsing XML files. This loads specific information from an xml containing book information.
Loading and parsing an RSS feed. This extracts information from the Yahoo weather feed.
Loading and using CSS stylesheets within a Flash application. This controls the rendering of the previous weather example.
Saving user settings using Flash cookies. This saves the volume setting of a music player.
Using local connections between Flash applications. Typing into a sender will result in the text being displayed on a receiver.
Using local connections to make flash apps follow browser page histories.
