This is the home page for the Webmaster Certification work of Lucinda Maddin. I am a programmer who spent 10 years with IBM Austin in various support and software engineering roles. I thoroughly enjoyed working at IBM, but I quit in 2000 to be home and raise my two boys. Work will always be there... children grow up. When my youngest son went to school, I wanted to brush up on my programming skills and learn something new. The ACC Webmaster Certification program offered a great opportunity for me to learn Web design at home.
My capstone project was done for the elementary library where my son attends school. Their current website is simply a huge list of text links all in the same font and color. The challenge for this website was to create something visually inviting that captured the student's attention while conveying the basic meaning of the library content. The website also had to work for non-readers which account for about one-fourth of the school.
