The answer is WHY NOT!?! Not many people are as blessed as we are to live in the birthplace of surfing. At some point, all of us decided we wanted to give it a try. What better place to learn than in the company of other women, who aren't competing with each other and who are well past caring what their swimsuit looks like?

Instead, we do our best to encourage each other to be safe and take risks. Safety is our first concern. It's always safer to surf with a buddy. Besides, there is no better to place to talk than between sets on a flat day. So take advantage of yout time in Hawaii and join us!

Besides, your kids will think you are cool.

And for the record...

We are affiliated with the Fort Shafter Spouses Hui known as Hui O' Wahine. Most of our members are Army wives, but some are husbands, some aren't haole, some are affiliated with other branches, and some are just good friends who love to surf safely.

One day while reading a surf blog, Heidi Evans read this comment beneath the article:

"What's with all the big butt, haole old ladies at Barber's lately?"

Rather than be mortified, she jumped for joy on feet that probably still had some of that parrotfish-poop, Barber's sand adhered to them.

"Someone saw me!" she yelled. She may not be a tiny little thing like the delicate Hawaiian surf babes (who somehow manage to keep their bikini tops on when they pearl) but she was a surfer, a B2HOL surfer!
